Standard First Aid

Canadian Red Cross Certification

You'll learn the latest guidelines and techniques that meet legislative requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA)  guidelines for Intermediate first aid.  Be the difference, learn first aid, save a life!

Full Course

Duration

  • Standard First Aid & CPR C - 14 hours in class over two days

  • Standard First Aid & CPR C -  7 hours in class + 8 hours online learning                    *online learning time will vary depending on learner

 

Prerequisites

  • This course has no prerequisites.

Completion 

  • Successfully demonstrate skills and critical steps

  • Min. 75% mark for written knowledge evaluation

  • Attend and participate in 100% of the course

Certification

  • 3-year certification in Standard First Aid, CPR Level C, and AED

  • Standard First Aid certificate (digital certificate issue upon successful completion)

Recertification

  • Standard First Aid & CPR C: 7.5 hours in-class, must be completed before 3 year expiry date.

Course Content

  • The Red Cross

  • Preparing to respond

  • The EMS system

  • Check, Call, Care

  • Airway emergencies

  • Breathing and Circulation emergencies

  • First aid for respiratory and cardiac arrest

  • Wound care

  • Head, neck and spinal injuries

  • Bone, muscle and joint injuries

  •  Sudden Medical Emergencies

  •  Environmental Illnesses

  •  Poisons

  • Includes any other content required by specific legislation

Renewal Course

Duration​​

  • Standard First Aid & CPR C: 7.5 hours in-class.

  • Must have a valid Standard First Aid & CPR or equivalent certificate.
